Quality of Life and Death - Update V1.1


Hey everyone!

Medium sized update out today, with some big changes. Most importantly: Saving!

You'll no longer loose all progress when quitting the game, or god forbid, the game crashing. It saves often in the background, so no worries :^)

Outside of that, there's a bunch of QoL changes, hence the name. This includes the ammo chest, pickup info, input rebinding, few bug fixes and UI adjustments. These changes were very important to add, and were on the top of my list, before adding new content. I think next update will focus on new content instead of these enhancements, but not even I know for sure what's next...

Got a lot of big ideas in store for the future, but these additions will be a big part of the foundation of the future updates.

Patch notes:

Added

  • Saving! - Rejoice, saving is now possible! Create as many slots as you want, delete them, do whatever. Saving happens automatically during gameplay, and there's no save reloading or anything. Your progress (and choices) are permanent :^)


  • Female player voice - When creating a character, you now chose the voice you want! (Thanks to my girlfriend for providing the voice acting)


  • Ammo chest - In the Sanctuary you will now find the ammo chest. This chest only unlocks on death, and if in need of ammo. This is aimed at getting you back into action quicker between deaths.


  • Pickup Info - Hovering over a weapon or rune will now display it's description, to better explain the item. Ported this over from Survivor, to add more clarity.


  • Player Input rebinding - In settings, under input, players can now rebind all relevant inputs. This is of course saved between sessions as well.


  • Interaction prompts with key input - Accurately updates to player bound key


Adjusted

  • Player now starts with 100 health in Arena mode
  • Player now starts with 0 ammo in Adventure - This is to make it a bit harder at the beginning, and the first part of a bigger overhaul to ammo, gold and health pickups. Arena starting ammo remains unchanged.
  • Tutorial Text displays rebound keys
  • Plenty of UI polish to the settings menu for added clarity.

Fixed

  • Broken world collision in certain spots
  • Fixed incorrectly sized props in Arena mode

(Now secretly I'll whisper down here what I might get up to in the future: There's a bunch of weapons already coded that just need art and effects, but also some way to get them... That last part is the most tricky, as I kinda know what they should look like. More enemies are planned for the future to enhance not just combat, but the world and lore too. More RPG mechanics, something old, something new, better UI, better stat system, and more. But this stuff here is secret, ok?)
